my experience

I have twenty years of experience teaching in the state sector.  I taught secondary English in the UK and then in Les Beaucamps High and then in the Grammar School and Sixth Form Centre, which was becoming Varendes while I was there.  I believe the roots of the high turnover of teachers can be found out by talking and listening to teachers, and that that is an urgent concern to make our education system the best it can be. 

I am standing primarily because it gives the Guernsey voter a choice of electing a teacher, who has taught in two of the high schools here, to the Education Committee, to encourage students and parents and teachers to come forward with their concerns. 

If elected, I am committed to working co-operatively and promoting co-operative working across the whole of the States Assembly.  We must consider everything with the ordinary Guernsey person in mind – how will this impact them, how will it benefit them, and have we talked to them about it?
